TVGS Transmissions: Dev’s Play – Robert Denner’s RPGs (July 21st, 8PM)

This week is Dev’s Play, where we’ll be playing through a locally-made game with the developer! This session we’re featuring Robert Denner:

Robert Denner is a game designer who specializes in narrative design and writing. He got his start in 1997, creating RPGs using the Kyle’s Quest Game Engine for the PalmOS. Having created six RPGs for the engine between 1997 and 2002, he ended up providing the pack-in level to both Kyle’s Quest and KQ2.

Robert will bringing with him a selection of his games including a remake of his very first game, No Bones About It, as well as his latest game, Crossroads. No Bones About It is an in-progress remake of the KQ pack-in level that started it all; a story about an adventurer trying to meet up with his traveling companion in a land under the attack by the undead. Whereas Crossroads is a short narrative-heavy adventure about four strangers who meet in a tavern and join together in an attempt to win a competition.

Dev Bio: Taro Omiya is an experimental indie game developer and a former Boeing software engineer. As a frequent game jammer, his games are often lauded for their unusual polish and innovation. He currently works in the Tech Valley Game Space, where his studio, Omiya Games, is developing the latest indie game.

TVGS Transmissions: Dev’s Play Rockabilly Beatdown (March 31st)

Welcome to TVGS Transmissions, this is our weekly livestream event where we’ll be playing video games with the TVGS community! This week is Dev’s Play, where we’ll be playing through a locally-made game with the developer! This session we’re featuring Rockabilly Beatdown made by Jason Harlow of Rumblecade.

ROCKABILLY BEATDOWN is an “Endless Puncher” action arcade game for iOS and Android. Choose your hero and punch your way through a streaming horde of hellish denizens for as long as you can last!

About the Dev:

As a Senior and Lead Artist across dozens of titles, Jason plies his artistic and technical skills across multiple industry disciplines. From the single pixel level to complex models and rigs, any encountered complexity is just a new opportunity to learn. World-traveled, teacher, and ardent troubleshooter, Jason wholeheartedly embraces all that games and art have to offer.

TVGS Transmissions: Dev’s Play – Plane Defensive (Feb 24)

Welcome to TVGS Transmissions! This is our weekly livestream event where we’ll be playing video games with the TVGS community! This week is Dev’s Play, where we’ll be playing through a locally-made game with the developer! This session we’re featuring Plane Defensive made by Klil H. Neori

About the Game:

Plane Defensive is tagged as “flatland meets survival horror”. It is several iterations on the idea of a player constrained to a two-dimensional plane having to contend with invaders from the third dimension, using limited information gathered from sensors inside that plane. Klil presented these iterations for feedback in monthly Interactive Showcases at the Arts Center, as well as at Troy By Design. The latest version can be found at khneori.itch.io/plane-defensive

About the Dev:

Klil moved to Albany from Israel in 2010 to pursue a PhD in physics. After graduation, he got involved in indie game design through TVGS, and is now a software engineer at Flyinside Inc., whose main product is a virtual reality interface for flight simulators.
