Ludum Dare 38 (April 21st, 9:00pm)

The time has come…to make games for the 38th tri-annual online game jam, Ludum Dare!

No experience in making games necessary! This is just a fun challenge for all of us, and often serves as an educational moment to learn how to work with deadlines. We will be going through game idea brainstorming and team building exercises to help you jump start your way to making games!

Join in as you make a game in 72 hours with a team, or if you want to go hard-mode, 48 hours solo! Meet up with other rapid game developers! Eat a lot of junk food! And most important of all, have fun!

RSVP at the links below!

P.S. For parking, the Uncle Sams parking garage — which is only one block away from our office — is free during weekends and after 6:00 PM on the weekdays. We highly recommend parking there.

Do note, however, that our location will be more busy than usual. We will be open between 10:00 AM and midnight each day, and will provide least one computer screen and one computer.

Note #2: Also, for those making VR applications regardless of whether they plan on joining the Hackathon or not, we highly recommend checking out the VR Jam going on Itch.io below. There are a ton of prizes you can win on this jam, and it goes on for more than a week!

Global Game Jam 2016 Post Mortem

With the Global Game Jam 2016 over, we created a special podcast looking back on our experiences making a game in 48-hours. This discussion was a chance for all the GGJ2016 participants to talk about what we’ve learned from our experiences at this year’s jam, and share ideas for what we can improve on in a future jam. Check out this fun reflection!

Social Night: RPI Crossover edition (February 10, 2016)

With Global Game Jam over, let’s celebrate the moment together with a fun-filled social night! We’ll relax and have a good time talking about games, development, and other topics. Feel free to bring in your Global Game Jam games, too!

New to this event is a crossover effort with the RPI Game Dev club. A handful of us will be heading to RPI at 7:30 to provide feedback on student portfolios. If you’re interested in critiquing student portfolios, feel free to contact us at info@techvalleygamespace.com.

Got a new project to show off? Bring it in, and let’s play it! Want to talk about your first game jam experience? Let’s discuss it! Want to bring your own VR? Everyone and every gaming news item, project, idea, and gadget are welcome!

As usual, please RSVP in the Facebook event or Meetup below:
