The time has come…to make games for the 38th tri-annual online game jam, Ludum Dare!

No experience in making games necessary! This is just a fun challenge for all of us, and often serves as an educational moment to learn how to work with deadlines. We will be going through game idea brainstorming and team building exercises to help you jump start your way to making games!

Join in as you make a game in 72 hours with a team, or if you want to go hard-mode, 48 hours solo! Meet up with other rapid game developers! Eat a lot of junk food! And most important of all, have fun!

Ludum Dare 35 games made here at Tech Valley Game Space

We’re at it again for the 35th Ludum Dare online game jam, a marathon of making a game within 48-hours solo, or 72-hours in a team. For our fifth real-world meeting, we’ve produced 7 original games! This Ludum Dare’s theme was “shapeshift” and we’re excited to present the results:

ANTIGRAVITY

A cryptic quest to defeat the Agents of Gravity.

[SHIFTED]

[SHIFTED] is a psychedelic text adventure. It is built on the engine used for my previous game Regrowth Of Layeon

Credit goes to me for the code and Bear for pretty much all of the graphic work.

Now a few warnings.
Only the North and South hallways are done, and South isn’t tested yet. Help is in some places incomplete or wrong. I count these as bugs and will be fixed when I have the stamina for it. Right now I am out of steam and I just want to submit the work.

Bear helped a lot with this and came up with a few ideas. He designed the look of all the graphic material and he has my thanks and credit for doing so. His social media handle is in the game under game info.

Super Sentinels

The mission in this “level” is to collect all of the “power disks” and escape the robot compound.

  • Z = Jump
  • Ctrl = Reflect Projectile
  • Shift = SHIFT

This game was made in Click Team Fusion. There still some bugs present. Reflected projectiles don’t destroy enemy robots for example.

Crystal Cry

Crystal Cry is a VR shooter where you fight in a crystal arena against hordes of monsters! Your lasers turn them into harmless insects that populate the world!

Controls: Tap the screen when the reticle expands to shapeshift the monsters.

Currently the only build is for android using Google Cardboard. A desktop non-vr version will be released soon!

Hidden in Plain Sight

A lone woman finds herself stuck in-between two dimensions, and only you can help! Guide this person to salvation using environmental cues and your own smarts. Hidden in Plain Sight is a unique puzzle-platformer where your character itself reveals a new hidden world. Use the visual cues in both the real and hidden to navigate through this treacherous world!

Controls:

  • WASD to move
  • Space to jump
  • Left-Ctrl to crouch and crawl
  • Move the mouse to look around
  • Use mouse scroll-wheel to zoom in and out
  • Esc to pause

Note: a 3-button mouse (mouses with scroll wheels) vastly improves the game, but is not necessary to play.

Confused? Here’s a big hint! Your character can only interact with what’s visible inside of her silhouette. So use that scroll wheel to zoom in and take a closer look at what the invisible world looks like!
