Orbit: VR – Year-End Showcase! (Dec 16th)

Welcome to the year-end Orbit VR meeting! The meeting this month is just a small meeting to show off any cool projects you’ve made in VR over the last year, or just to show off stuff you’ve found online! Come by and check it out!

Note: We’ll have an Oculus Rift with Touch controllers available with a computer so feel free to just bring a build to show off.

Orbit VR is a monthly meeting held every third Saturday where VR beginners, speculators, and enthusiasts can come together and show off projects, discuss the current state of things, and get a talk or tutorial every now and then!

[Orbit: Intermediate Game Design] Unity Tilemaps (December 7th, 7:00pm)

Looking to step up your game development skills by diving into 3D? This mentorship group is for you! The Intermediate Game Design Orbit mentorship group can help provide you answers and resources to any questions you may have on a variety of popular 3D game engines, including Unity 3D.

This session, Taro Omiya will talk about the new Tilemap feature in Unity to quickly create a level for a 2D game.

The Intermediate Game Design Orbit group will meet on the 1st and 4th Thursday of the month at Tech Valley Game Space and will provide opportunities for participants to share information, discuss projects, ask questions and obtain guidance from experienced mentors.

Unity may be just the game engine for you! Our TVGS Unity Orbit mentorship group can help provide you answers and resources to any questions you may have on this popular and free software.

Orbit: VR – Intro to Unity VR (Oct 21st, 1PM)

What are we doing this month?

This month we’ll be doing a quick introduction on how to get started using the Google Daydream/Cardboard and Oculus platforms in Unity. We’ll cover the basics like how to prepare your work environment (virtual and physical) for VR, what software and plugins are needed to run and publish apps, and a peek at what’s already available to expand your VR projects!

Limited equipment will be available for the demo.
