[IGDA Albany] A Design Retrospective on Planetary Annihilation: Titans (October 5th, 2016)

As part of the regular schedule, we’ll be re-posting descriptions for the Albany IGDA talks that occur at TVGS on the first Wednesday of every month. This month’s speaker is Joshua Day, and his talk is going to be about:

A Design Retrospective on Planetary Annihilation: Titans

The team at Uber built an ambitious experience for Planetary Annihilation, but when the game launched, players expected more. How do designers keep a vision alive when production deadlines are tight? What trade-offs get made, and how does passion survive? We’ll follow a few features from the identification of the design need on through implementation and launch.

About the Speaker

Joshua Day is a senior developer at eventcore. He has previously been a designer on Planetary Annihilation: TitansCardinal Quest, and Brogue. Whenever he gets the chance he’s working on new ideas in path-finding and compilers.

Note: The talk will begin at 7 PM, but feel free to arrive around 6 and stay until 9 if you’d like to mingle before and after.

RSVP at Facebook or on Meetup.
