Lesson Night: Version Control and You (August 8th, 6:30pm)

Ever had to deal with files getting deleted by accident? Or perhaps you’ve overwritten it with unnecessary information? What about the disaster that is collaborative file editing? Well, there’s a tool for that: Git. Professional software developer Taro Omiya will provide a tutorial on how to use this popular tool to track each revision of a project. With it, attendees will learn how to store and recall files and project at various state of development. Furthermore, the tutorial will delve into how the tool can be used collaboratively with the webservice GitHub, and the benefits and pitfalls that comes with it.

What to Bring

A Windows computer with Sourcetree Git and TortoiseGit pre-installed is recommended, but not required. Creating a GitHub account is also recommended.
